PolyCog vs Ninja AI — an agent that does the work, or AIs that argue

Ninja AI, from NinjaTech AI, is now mostly SuperNinja: an AI agent with its own cloud computer that picks a model and does the job. PolyCog does one thing it doesn’t: every model you seat answers your question, they argue, and one synthesis says where they still disagree, on your own API keys.

One prompt, two ways to use several models: Ninja picks a model for you (its apps’ Compare Mode shows two side by side); PolyCog runs every seat in parallel, scans for disagreements, has the models debate, and synthesizes one answer.

The short version

Ninja AI is a subscription to an AI that does work: SuperNinja writes and runs code, builds websites, makes files and researches on its own cloud computer, from $19 a month in credits, with apps on both phones and a seat in Slack. It picks the model for each job, and its apps’ Compare Mode adds a second, side by side. None of them answers another. PolyCog is for the question before the work: every model you seat answers, they read each other and debate, and one synthesis names what they still disagree on, billed in dollars to your own API keys. It doesn’t do tasks. If you want something built, that’s Ninja. If you want a question argued out, that’s us, and plenty of people will want both.

Two different jobs

An agent does a task. A debate settles a question. They aren’t the same tool.

An agent takes a goal and works on it: SuperNinja opens its own computer, writes the code, runs it, fixes what breaks and hands you the result. One model drives it, and you judge the result when it’s done.

A debate is for the question you want right before anything gets built: which approach, which vendor, is this claim true. Several models answer on their own, read each other, push back, and the synthesis shows where they agree and where they don’t.

Both: argue the plan out in PolyCog, then hand the winner to an agent. PolyCog won’t build it for you, and Ninja won’t make its models argue.

Who pays for the AI

Ninja sells credits for the work. PolyCog never touches the AI bill.

Ninja AI

$19 a month · 1,900 credits

You→ Monthly credits→ The model Ninja picks

A task costs credits “based on how much work is involved”: the model, the cloud computer it runs on, any data it fetches. Unused credits reset each month.

PolyCog

BYOK · free tier, $10/mo or $250 once, for the interface only

You→ AI providers, directly

Each call bills to your own provider account, in dollars, with the model’s name on it, after an estimate before each run. Nothing to use up, nothing that resets.

Where Ninja beats us

A comparison you can trust has to cut both ways.

It does the work, not just the answer

SuperNinja runs tasks on its own cloud computer: it writes and runs code, builds and deploys a website, makes documents and dashboards, and works for hours on its own. PolyCog answers questions; it doesn’t carry out tasks.

Inside the apps you already use

You can reach SuperNinja from Slack, Microsoft Teams or WhatsApp, and it connects to GitHub, Jira, Salesforce and Slack on Pro. PolyCog is a website you open.

Apps in the phone stores

Ninja AI has iOS and Android apps. PolyCog runs in your phone’s browser; there is no app to install from a store.

No API keys to set up

One subscription covers the models, pictures and the computer the agent runs on. PolyCog runs on your own provider keys; its free tier gives a signed-in account 3 prompts a day on our keys while you add yours.

Where PolyCog wins

Models that answer each other

Ninja picks one model for the job (its apps’ Compare Mode shows two side by side). In PolyCog every model you seat answers, reads the others and replies, round after round, before one synthesis names what they still disagree on.

You pick every model, and see every answer

Ninja says it will “automatically select the best model for your purpose”; you can override it in settings. In PolyCog you choose each seat and the model in it, and every answer stays on screen beside the others.

Dollars, not credits

Ninja spends credits “based on how much work is involved”, and the month’s credits reset. PolyCog shows an estimate in dollars before each run, rounded up, and every call bills to your own provider account with the model’s name on it.

Your chats train no one’s model

Ninja’s own help page says that on its plans for individuals “we may use your content to train our models”; only Business opts out. PolyCog has no model of its own to train.

Common questions

Is Ninja AI a multi-model app?

Yes, in one sense: it uses models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and others, and picks one for each job (you can override the pick in settings). It doesn’t have several models answer the same question and argue it out. That is what PolyCog does: every seat answers, they read each other and debate, and one synthesis says where they still disagree.

Can Ninja show several AI answers side by side?

Its iPhone and Android app listings describe a Compare Mode that shows the results from two models side by side. The two answers don’t see each other. In PolyCog four models answer at once on the free tier and six on Pro, then each reads the others before one synthesis is written.

How much does Ninja AI cost compared with PolyCog?

Ninja AI has a free plan with a one-time allowance of credits, Pro at $19 a month ($16 a month billed yearly) with 1,900 credits a month, and Business at $50 a month ($42 billed yearly). Credits are spent by how much work a task takes and reset each month. PolyCog has a free tier, Pro at $10 a month and Lifetime at $250; the AI itself bills to your own provider keys at list price, about 13 cents for an everyday debate session.

Does Ninja AI train on my chats?

Ninja’s help page says that on its plans for individuals “we may use your content to train our models”, and that on Business your data is not used for training. PolyCog has no model of its own and trains nothing on your chats; your questions go to the providers you pick, under their API terms.

Can PolyCog do tasks the way SuperNinja does?

No. SuperNinja is an agent with its own cloud computer: it builds websites, runs code and makes files. PolyCog is for questions you want argued out: several models answer, debate and synthesize. Many people would use both: an agent for the work, PolyCog for the decision before it.

Can I use my own API keys in Ninja AI?

Not on its Free, Pro or Business plans, which run on Ninja’s credits. Its enterprise pages offer bring-your-own-keys for companies that deploy SuperNinja in their own cloud. PolyCog runs on your own keys from the free tier up.
